    New rank reward treasure chest

A discussion came up at our OTG SCRUBS raid about the new Hearthstone ranked reward treasure chest, here's what I've gathered we are going to see. It's worked to motivate me to try to get higher than rank 20 for the card back. 8-)

Aside from Grand Tournament news, Blizzard is also looking at adding benefits for higher rank players, some of whom feel like they should stop playing after reaching a good rank because the risk of dropping down again is too high. To help recognize players’ achievements, Hearthstone will soon recognize the highest rank you’ve achieved in a month and offer additional rewards beyond the rank 20 card back. Higher ranked players will receive a treasure chest at the end of each month’s gameplay that includes rewards based on their rank, including golden cards and arcane dust.

At rank 20, you receive 1 gold common card and a small assortment of dust. The amount of dust received goes up for every new rank acquired. Every 5 ranks after rank 20 nets you an additional gold card rewards.
    • At rank 15, you’ll receive both a gold common and a gold rare.
    • At rank 10, you’ll receive 2 gold commons and a gold rare.
    • At rank 5, you’ll receive 2 gold commons and a gold epic.
    • At legend, you’ll receive 3 gold commons and a gold epic.

Thanks for this, I won't risk another loss in ranked play then. I'm rank 15 with no stars to lose.

My understanding of the implementation of the treasure chest, rather than waiting until the end of the month and rewarding people with what their ending rank is, is that with the chest you now retain credit for whatever your highest rank achieved was during the month, even if you lose stars and end the month at a different rank:

If you decide to take one for the team and drop to rank 16, check your treasure chest and see if it still says "15" on it, for us. :)
